in writing. ‒ I have voted for the report by Ms Kallas as the Customs Union which is considered as one of the foundations of the European Union, and the backbone of the Single Market, still suffers from no integrated approach for the enforcement of customs legislation, including sanctions. This means that the rules are the same but when those rules are infringed, the sanctions applied significantly differ. This report moves in the right directions taking into consideration the requirements of the Union Customs Code, while facilitating and improving compliance and respecting the principle of proportionality.
